Operations Manager – Care Homes
£70,000–£80,000 per year | Bonus Scheme | Company Car | Nurse Qualified
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced care home operator who knows how to drive quality, strengthen performance and get the best from Home Managers across multiple services.
We’re looking for a nurse-qualified Operations Manager with proven multi-site experience across nursing or care homes for older adults. You’ll oversee a portfolio of services, supporting Home Managers across quality, compliance, clinical governance, staffing and operational performance, while ensuring residents remain at the centre of decision-making.
This is a highly visible role involving regular travel between different homes and areas, so you’ll need to be comfortable spending significant time within the services you support.
What We’re Looking For
- RGN or RMN with active NMC registration – essential
- Previous Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Area Manager or equivalent multi-site experience within nursing/care homes – essential
- Strong experience within older adult and dementia care
- Proven experience overseeing multiple care services
- Strong understanding of CQC requirements, clinical governance, safeguarding and compliance
- Experience supporting services through CQC inspections and quality improvement
- Confidence managing and developing Home Managers and senior leadership teams
- Experience monitoring staffing, occupancy and budgets
- Ability to identify underperformance and implement effective improvement plans
- Full UK driving licence – essential
- Flexibility and willingness to travel regularly across different areas and care homes
Leading Across the Homes
- Provide operational and clinical oversight across a portfolio of nursing and care homes
- Support, challenge and develop Home Managers to achieve consistently high standards
- Monitor quality, compliance and clinical governance across services
- Support homes with CQC preparation, inspections and improvement plans
- Review performance and identify areas requiring additional support
- Ensure safeguarding and risk management procedures remain robust
- Monitor staffing, recruitment, retention and leadership stability
- Maintain oversight of occupancy, budgets and operational performance
- Work closely with senior leadership to implement organisational objectives
- Spend regular time within individual homes, remaining visible and accessible to leadership teams
- Promote consistently high standards of person-centred older adult and dementia care
