D R Newitt are delighted to be partnering with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in North Lanarkshire to recruit an experienced Structural Plater / Fabricator.

The Role

Working within a modern fabrication workshop, you'll be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of heavy structural steel components, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricating structural steelwork from detailed engineering drawings
  • Marking out, cutting, shaping and assembling steel sections
  • Working with beams, plate, channels and other structural components
  • Tack welding and preparing assemblies for final welding
  • Operating fabrication machinery and workshop equipment safely
  • Carrying out quality checks throughout the fabrication process
  • Working collaboratively with welders and the wider production team

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Structural Plater or Fabricator within a heavy engineering or structural steel environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings confidently
  • Experience working with heavy gauge steel and large fabrications
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Time-served apprenticeship or relevant fabrication qualification is advantageous
