About the job

An excellent opportunity has arisen at our Taw Valley site for a Production Technician to join our production team. As a our new Production Technician you will play an integral part in the production of our fantastic Cheese products. Working as part of a high-performance team, reporting into the Area Leader the successful candidate will be working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (days & night shift pattern covering both sides of the shift) and you will be the link between the production operators and shift Duty Manager escalating any concerns or breakdowns.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Resolving day-to-day production issues & making process equipment available for maintenance.
  • Operating, monitoring & cleaning processing equipment – Cheese vats, Blockformers, blockmaster, milk pasteurisers. 
  • Ensuring department is always audit ready (Cleaning, hygiene, food safety, paperwork)
  • Monitor and review the process to ensure department KPI’s are achieved and that any deviations from standard are recorded and communicated to the Production Team Leader.
  • Work closely with maintenance and other members of the team to ensure lost time due to breakdowns is minimized.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by raising near misses, environmental and behavioural safety observations.
  • Using LEAN tools for problem solving and identifying any CI opportunities.
  • Support completion of risk assessments and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure procedures, sampling and testing are performed daily.
  • Fill out MDE ensuring relevant information is captured correctly.

 

Who are you?

The ideal candidate will have some experience of process control systems., have a mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills would be advantageous.

 

We are looking for somebody who has the ability to work in an organised and methodical manner, following company procedures as well as the ability to work well under pressure and be able to communicate effectively to relay and share information with key function groups

 

You are a  motivated team player, who can work on their own initiative, has good knowledge of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene and has a very flexible attitude to hours of work which include weekend, shift working on a rota basis and holiday cover
