About the Role

A well-established food manufacturing business is seeking a detail-oriented Interim QA/QC Technician to join its Quality and Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for a food industry professional who is passionate about food safety, quality assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with the Technical and NPD functions, you will play a key role in ensuring products are manufactured to the highest food safety and quality standards while supporting audits, compliance activities, and quality systems across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, quality systems, and internal procedures.
  • Maintain and oversee technical and production documentation, ensuring records are accurately completed, signed off, and securely filed.
  • Monitor food safety controls throughout production, ensuring adherence to HACCP, GMP, hygiene, and quality requirements.
  • Carry out CCP verification activities, including metal detector, sieve, and compliance checks.
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections, identify non-conformances, and support corrective and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate equipment calibration, maintenance documentation, and routine cleaning schedules.
  • Manage product and environmental sampling programmes, including arranging external laboratory testing.
  • Deliver food safety, GMP, hygiene, allergen, and SOP training, including inductions and refresher sessions.
  • Support customer, third-party, and regulatory audits, ensuring documentation and traceability records are audit ready.
  • Perform routine GMP, hygiene, technical, and foreign body audits across the site.
  • Monitor product changeovers, allergen controls, cleaning verification, and labelling compliance.
  • Conduct product quality assessments, including sensory, physical, and chemical testing.
  • Ensure maintenance sign-off procedures are completed before equipment is released back into production.
  • Promote PPE compliance, hygiene standards, and a strong food safety culture throughout the business.
  • Review supplier documentation, Certificates of Analysis (CoAs), specifications, and audit reports to ensure ingredient compliance.
  • Provide support to NPD activities and assist with wider technical team responsibilities when required.

About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Previous experience within a QA, QC, Technical, or Food Safety role in food manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of HACCP, GMP, food hygiene, and quality management systems.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance checks.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Good communication skills with the confidence to train and support colleagues.
  • Experience supporting customer, third-party, or regulatory audits would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of allergen management, traceability, and food safety legislation is desirable.

If you have a passion for food safety, quality assurance, and maintaining high standards within a manufacturing environment, we would be keen to hear from you.
