Are you due to finish school or college and considering a career in Engineering? How would you like to undertake an Apprenticeship with a company that is a global leader in radiation therapy, medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics and medical information technology?

As a Proton Therapy Field Service Engineer Apprentice at Varian (a Siemens Healthineers Company), you will be an integral part of our site-based engineering team at The Christie in Manchester. Your responsibilities will include monitoring, repairing, and maintaining our Proton Beam Therapy medical systems.


You'll provide essential technical service support to our customers, working within a global service team, all the while earning Level 3 accredited qualifications.

What to Expect:

  • Attend Macclesfield College to work towards achieving a Level 3 in Mechatronic Engineering

  • Work at The Christie Hospital, Withington, Manchester, as well as Varian maufacturing sites and training centres in Europe.

  • Gain hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical issues on high-tech medical products.
     

Upon completion of the apprenticeship and with a good training record, you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent full-time position as a Field Service Engineer with opportunities for further education and product training.

  • Prepared to participate in a shift pattern to cover extended hours (0700-2200) at times.

Benefits:

  • Starting salary £15,000 - £19,950 (age dependant)

  • Shift allowance for when shift working hours commence

To apply for this Field Service Engineer Apprentice role, you will need at least four GCSEs at grade 4 (or C) or above, including English Language and Maths. 

You will also need to meet the UK Government's Apprenticeship eligibility criteria:

  • Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for the past three years or more prior to starting the course 

  • Have left full time education when the apprenticeship you are applying for is due to start
