Maintenance Engineer
Shift-based role, 12 Hour Shifts of 2 days 2 nights 4 off.
100% on site at Swindon

Are you a time‑served Engineer looking for a role where you can make a real impact on equipment reliability and site performance? We’re looking for a proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You’ll play a key role in maintaining, improving, and optimising our production equipment to support a high‑performing manufacturing environment.
The Role
Maintenance Management: Oversee and execute planned and unplanned maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and ensure timely completion using SOPs and engineering systems.
Equipment Reliability: Diagnose and repair breakdowns, perform tool changes, refurbish parts, and support reliability improvements and installations.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work aligns with SOPs, GMP, and Health & Safety standards, conducting risk assessments and supporting a culture of safety and compliance.
Operational Excellence: Support continuous improvement, 5S, and RCA initiatives to enhance equipment performance, availability, and reliability.
Quality Assurance: Promote a compliance-driven culture by ensuring accurate documentation (TCRs, PE logs), audit readiness, and delivering quality-assured equipment to production.
Leadership & Team Development: Lead and motivate the engineering team, conduct regular 1:1s, manage performance fairly, and model Catalent values and cross-functional collaboration.
Communication & Handover: Attend shift meetings, provide detailed handovers, and support strategic shift goals through effective communication and leadership.
Ethics & Flexibility: Uphold professional standards, support project teams and contractors, and perform additional tasks as required to meet evolving business needs.
The Candidate
Full time served engineering apprenticeship L3, or equivalent qualifications- Required
Detailed understanding of engineering issues and improvement processes, preferably as a team leader or supervisor
Production Engineering experience
Experience with Continuous Improvements
GMP experience
Good team player
IT literate with demonstrable Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel/spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Outlook
