Job Description

At Valeo Foods UK, we're looking for a Maintenance Manager to join our Cleckheaton site and become the Engineering Manager's right-hand person, helping to lead our engineering function and a team of 8 engineers.

Small site. Big challenge.

Don't be fooled by the size of the site.

Cleckheaton is a long-standing manufacturing facility, with plenty of history, plenty of machinery and, most importantly, plenty of opportunity to make a real difference.

This isn't a role where you'll be sitting behind a desk managing spreadsheets all day.

We're looking for someone who wants to get stuck in, lead from the front, make decisions and bring energy to the engineering team.

You'll be responsible for helping to manage and develop a team of 8 engineers, ensuring the day-to-day engineering operation runs safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

You'll work closely with the Engineering Manager and wider site leadership team, taking ownership, challenging the status quo and helping us continually improve the way we maintain and operate our site.

What will you be doing?

Your days will be varied, but key responsibilities will include:

Leading, supervising and supporting a team of 8 engineers
Acting as the Engineering Manager's right-hand person
Managing and coordinating engineering activity across shifts
Contractor control – ensuring contractors are managed safely and effectively
Managing engineering KPIs and driving performance
Maintaining audit readiness and ensuring engineering standards are consistently met
Supporting OPS machinery and ensuring equipment remains reliable and fit for purpose
Planning and coordinating planned and reactive maintenance activity
Setting and maintaining maintenance standards
Using Holistech to support maintenance planning, reporting and control
Developing and maintaining a 3-month forward maintenance plan
Delegating effectively and making sure the team knows what needs to be done
Supporting engineers with technical issues and removing roadblocks
Identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and ways of working
Ensuring maintenance activity is carried out safely, efficiently and to the required standard
Getting involved on the shop floor and leading by example

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

We're not necessarily looking for someone who has already held the title of Maintenance Manager. We're looking for potential, attitude and drive.

You could be an experienced Maintenance Engineer, Senior Engineer, Engineering Team Leader or Supervisor who is ready to take that next step.

You'll be someone who:

Has a strong engineering/maintenance background within a manufacturing environment
Has experience working with and coordinating engineers
Wants to develop their people management and leadership skills
Has plenty of get-up-and-go and isn't afraid to get stuck in
Leads from the front and is comfortable making decisions
Can delegate effectively while still being hands-on
Enjoys a challenge and thrives in a busy manufacturing environment
Is organised and can balance reactive issues with longer-term planning
Understands the importance of maintenance standards, compliance and audit readiness
Has a passion for engineering and wants to make a genuine difference
Can communicate confidently with engineers, contractors, production teams and site leadership
Is comfortable challenging things when they need to be challenged
Wants to develop and progress their career
