Job Description

Barrington James are excited to be working with our client based in Worthing for a Multi -Skilled Maintenance Engineer.

As part of the Building Services team, you will manage and maintain the structures, mechanical, and electrical services at the Company’s premises. Your key responsibilities will include:

Routine Maintenance and Inspection:

  • Carry out routine maintenance activities according to Company and/or third-party specialist procedures and requirements.
  • Perform routine inspection functions in line with Company and/or third-party specialist procedures and requirements.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Plan and manage preventative maintenance activities, including in-house work and work by third-party providers.
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance activities are coordinated with business functions to minimize operational impact.

Standard Operating Procedures:

  • Identify, draft, and implement Standard Operating Procedures for all aspects of the Building Services function.

Contract Management:

  • Assist the Facilities Manager in managing service provider contracts, including arranging and supervising contractor attendances, contract renewals, and unplanned works.
  • Manage engineering service contracts.
  • Draft day work orders, prepare estimates, specifications, supervise contractors, check and approve accounts, and obtain statutory approvals as needed.
  • Review and report on equipment and contractor performance levels.

Health and Safety:

  • Carry out all duties in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and procedures.
  • Assist with ongoing improvement of Health and Safety throughout the business.
  • Assist the Building Services Manager to ensure compliance with relevant statutory obligations.

Project Management:

  • Carry out surveys and prepare improvement schemes.
  • Design new systems and additions to existing installations.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion.

Database Management:

  • Update and maintain the Building Services Maintenance database in accordance with the Company’s procedures.

Mechanical and Electrical Works:

  • Be responsible for a range of general mechanical design duties.
  • Undertake reviews of electrical works such as lighting, small power, fire alarm systems, and similar systems when required.
  • Consult with management on identified needs and the implementation of repair projects.

What Experience Do You Need

  • Experience working within a building services department or organization.
  • Knowledge of building and health & safety regulations.
  • Experience in building/property maintenance.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical standards & regulations.
  • BTEC/HNC/HND in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or an equivalent appropriate qualification.
  • Full UK driving license (preferred).
