About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Senior Production Planner to join our Manchester site. This role is responsible for coordinating resources across production, planning and despatch teams to ensure customer orders are delivered on time, in full, and as efficiently as possible.
You will play a key role in master scheduling, inventory management, capacity planning and cross-functional collaboration, primarily supporting our UK Magnesium operations while also contributing to wider site planning activities.
Clear communication, strong analytical ability, and a solutions-focused mindset are essential, as you will be expected to quickly adapt plans and present alternative scenarios when production challenges arise.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create and manage master production schedules across the Manchester site
  • Issue production plans and lead regular planning meetings
  • Release manufacturing orders based on material requirements
  • Coordinate material flow through the full production cycle
  • Present capacity plans and KPI performance in monthly planning meetings
  • Manage inventory levels, safety stock, and cycle count processes
  • Liaise with stakeholders across departments to align demand and capacity
  • Coordinate subcontractor schedules and lead times with procurement
  • Monitor and report Stock Transfer Order (STO) performance weekly
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements, systems, policies and procedures
  • Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Provide training and coaching on planning systems and processes
  • Collaborate with US manufacturing operations to support supply requirements
  • Support colleagues within the planning team as required
Essential Requirements
Qualifications
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science (Grade 4–9 / A*–C)
  • Degree level qualification in supply chain management, logistics or other related area
Experience
  • Experience in an MRP planning role within manufacturing
  • Strong experience analysing and manipulating data
  • Proven experience using SAP within a planning environment
  • Experience managing full production routes including subcontracting
Skills & Knowledge
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and drive efficiencies
Desirable
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related discipline
  • Lean manufacturing certification (e.g. Green/Black Belt)
  • Experience using Power BI or Power Apps
Working Pattern
  • 37 hours per week (day-based)
  • Flexibility required to meet business needs, including occasional extended hours or weekend work
