CastAlum is an internationally acclaimed aluminium die caster and machining centre located in Mid Wales. The site was a Greenfield development in the winter of 2000-2001, serving one customer only.
20 years on, the company supplies parts to the UK, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. We have grown from supplying “cast only” parts to one customer, to supplying a range of products (in both High Pressure & Squeeze Cast) in cast, cast & machined, assembled & tested as the needs of our customer base has dictated.
Ninety percent of all production is for export, with our components going into vehicles produced by VAG, BMW, Ford, General Motors, Fiat, Renault, Porsche, Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover, AML and other prestigious marques.
Over the past 9 years the Company has invested heavily in the development of new products, processes, and capabilities. Through our own investigation and expertise, we have been able to bring several process solutions to bear in meeting world class quality standards. Key to this is our “Forward Focus” ethos which drives change as our customers’ needs grow to meet the new challenges of Electric Vehicle (EV) and Low Carbon Vehicle (LCV) technology.
Our investment & understanding of Additive Material Technology to aid with conformal cooling has allowed us to change what is viewed as feasible within our industry. Job Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer with experience in both hydraulics and electrical systems to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong technical background to contribute to the efficient operation and maintenance of our equipment and machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on hydraulic and electrical systems.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults promptly.
Ensure machinery and equipment are running at optimal efficiency, minimizing downtime.
Work with a range of electrical components, motors, drives, and control systems.
Carry out preventative maintenance and inspections on hydraulic systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Assist with the installation, testing, and commissioning of new equipment.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
Provide technical support to production teams as required.
Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
Skills & Experience Required:
Proven experience in maintaining and repairing hydraulic systems and electrical components.
Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, motors, drives, and control systems.
Hands-on experience with PLCs, electrical fault finding, and hydraulic troubleshooting.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Familiarity with industrial automation systems is a plus.
Strong communication and team-working abilities.
Relevant qualifications in engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Basic Shift Pattern: "3 on, 4 off" (Rotating Days/Nights)
Overtime is paid at time and a half for your first 12 hours, anything over 48 hours is paid at double time.
