Job Description
As part of our ongoing investment in people and talent, we’re offering an exciting opportunity for individuals to begin their journey into engineering and maintenance through our Maintenance Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme.
This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals to take the next step in their career and develop specialist technical skills within our Maintenance and Facilities teams.
As a Maintenance Technician Apprentice, you’ll learn how to maintain, repair, and improve our equipment, machinery, and building systems that keep our sites running efficiently. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, in a support technician capacity, gaining practical hands-on experience while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification.
This apprenticeship will last 48 months with an additional 4 months to complete your EPA. If successful, the apprenticeship will start in August 2026 with onboarding beginning from the end of May, which you will need to be available for. You will be required to attend college for 1 day per week for the duration of the apprenticeship.

Minimum Technical Expectations (During Training)
As you progress through the programme, through you should be able to demonstrate:
Troubleshooting ability appropriate to your stage, starting with following clear instructions, progressing to independently resolving standard faults, and eventually supporting complex, multi-system issues.
Competence in practical maintenance tasks, under supervision initially, then independently when assessed as safe.
Progressive development in electrical and mechanical skills, with evidence of competence through observation and practical assessment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide maintenance support for distribution systems, including conveyor belts, sorting machines, and automated storage systems. Working and supporting closely with the maintenance technicians as well as the ability to work autonomously.
Perform reactive and preventive maintenance on distribution equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and safety standards with appropriate support where required.
Monitor the performance of distribution systems to identify potential issues and report any irregularities or potential problems to the maintenance supervisor.
Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and compliance checks.
Work closely with the distribution and logistics teams to support seamless operations.
Assist with the implementation of new systems and technologies within the distribution centre.

Qualifications
To be considered for this apprenticeship, you must meet the following criteria:
Be a UK national, or a non-UK national with the right to work in the UK, or an EU national with settled status.
Have lived in the UK, an EEA country, or a British Overseas Territory for at least 3 years before the programme start date (August 2026).
Be a resident of the UK for the entire duration of the programme.
Not be registered on another UK government-funded course for the duration of your apprenticeship.
Be 18 years or older.
Have a minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above (or equivalent), including Maths, English, and a Science or Technology subject.
If your qualifications were obtained outside of the UK, you will need a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC (www.enic.org.uk).
You must not already have a higher degree, or be studying towards a higher degree, in the same or a related field.
