Position Overview
We are seeking two skilled and experienced Maintenance Engineers with strong electrical backgrounds to join our plastic injection moulding & extrusion factories in N Wales. The ideal candidates will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment at these sites. These roles also involve mentoring and overseeing the development of apprentice engineers at each site, making it a great opportunity for candidates with leadership potential. The successful candidates will also be required to provide daily activity reports and weekly improvement progress updates to ensure transparency and continuous development.
Key Details
- Salary: £37,500–£45,000 per annum (depending on experience, energy and skillset)
- Holiday: Six weeks plus statutory holidays

Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting

- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plastic injection moulding machines and extrusion lines plus auxiliary equipment (e.g., chillers, robots, granulators & air compressors etc)
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues, including PLCs, control systems and other electronic subsystems
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns
Electrical Focus

- Oversee and maintain electrical systems critical to production processes
- Implement upgrades or modifications to improve equipment performance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards for all electrical work
Mentorship

- Provide guidance and training to an apprentice engineer
- Oversee their development by assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and sharing technical knowledge
Operational Efficiency

- Collaborate with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise efficiency
- Develop strategies to improve the reliability and safety of machinery and processes
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using digital tools
Reporting

- Submit detailed daily activity reports outlining tasks completed, issues encountered, and resolutions implemented
- Provide weekly improvement progress reports highlighting areas of success, challenges faced, and plans for further enhancement
Team Collaboration

- Work closely with other engineering professionals and production staff to ensure seamless operations
- Communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels to address maintenance priorities
Health & Safety

- Adhere to health and safety regulations in all maintenance activities
- Conduct risk assessments for maintenance tasks as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in maintaining plastic injection moulding machinery or extrusion lines or similar industrial equipment
- Strong expertise in electrical systems, including PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with mechanical systems is advantageous but not essential
- Digitally savvy – comfortable using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior staff is highly desirable
